The 2K connection

By / March 23, 2014 / Grand Theft Auto V, News

Typically Rockstar Games is viewed as its own company. At least that’s the publicly intented branding experience. Most of the 2k gamesRockstar Titles have a small note somewhere about being part of 2K or nothing at all. It’s never a big standout out Mention. All of the Rockstar Games titles start-up with the Rockstar Logo, and have little more than a disclaimer in the beginning while loading the game up. Where as specific 2K branded games fire up with a 2K logo.

” While many of the studios Take-Two Interactive has acquired have been merged into the Rockstar brand, several other recent ones have retained their previous identities and have become part of the company’s 2K Games division. The Rockstar Games label was founded in New York City in 1998[3] by the British video game producers Sam Houser, Dan Houser, Terry Donovan, Jamie King and Gary Foreman” – From Wikipedia

Now, to get to the root of this story. The connection was noticed awhile ago, even thou it’s actually something rather discrete, but nothing hard to find either. It’s a minor connection between 2k and Rockstar Games. Its a nice tribute, likely an environment arts way of saying, I love this game too. What’s the game ? Well if you’ve been under a rock Borderlands has a little robot called Clap Trap.. So if you’ve been under a rock. Please see here: borderlandsthegame

The images below shows one of a several of these little generator looking boxes planted in various positions around Los Santo’s in GTA V. The chipped yellow and white paint pattern and subtle dark dip where Clap Traps eye would be, reveal an uncanny but obviously eluded likeness. It’s not completely like Clap, but it’s a resemblance that unmistakable to match up. What other things have you found in Rockstar Games that pay tribute to other games ?
