Grand Theft Auto Online developer Rockstar Games is offering a chance to get in on the Red Dead Redemption II action early, with the activation of game “tunables”.1 The tunables for this activity, which were discovered shortly after the release of the Doomsday Heist update earlier this week, are expected to have been packaged with the update. A scavenger hunt has been added, in addition to a new revolver, called the Double Action Revolver, which is a nod to Rockstar’s other games series, Red Dead.

Keep your iFruit handy for a special in-game email containing the first clue, then follow the trail to unlock the Double Action Revolver in GTA Online. Once you acquire your gratis Double Action Revolver, complete the Headshot Challenge in Freemode for a GTA$250,000 reward and unlock it for future gun-slinging exploits in Red Dead Redemption 2.

GTA Online players should receive an in-game email upon logging in to online, including a clue to start players on the scavenger hunt, in search of “…a lost relic from the frontier.” Following the clues will lead to the discovery of the Double Action revolver, which will be added to the player’s inventory at no cost.

After discovering the gun in online, it can be used in a challenge to unlock the exclusive revolver in the next Red Dead game. The challenge? Successfully take 50 headshots, Doing so will grant the player 250,000GTA$ and unlock the exclusive revolver in Red Dead Redemption II on either the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 versions of the game. Red Dead Redemption II does not currently have a fixed release date, however, is expected to be released at some point in the Spring of 2018.

Have you managed to unlock the new revolver? If so, let us know in the comments section. Until then, we wish you good hunting.

1 Tunables are essentially digital on-off switches to either activate or deactivate content included within an update, usually meant for delayed or "dip feeding" release of content without necessitating another download
